"Thanks to those who have turned in recipes for the Baptist Home Cookbook.  However, only 41 people have turned in recipes which currently total only 80.  I had hoped for at least 200 recipes since there are so many people in our church.  I'm extending the deadline one last time until Friday, August 5th. You can fill out one of the recipe collection forms on the counter outside the fellowship hall, or click on the recipe form and just type in your recipe(s), or send it to me via email at csl927@aol.com. If there aren't many more recipes coming in, I will have to postpone the project to a later date. If I can get everything to the publisher by August 16, there is a significant savings to publish each book. The books will sell for  $10.  All proceeds go entirely to the missions fund.  I know Baptist Home has lots of good cooks...please share those favorite recipes with the rest of the church family!!  Thanks,
Cathy Lockhart.

VBS workers have a VBS t-shirt in the church office.  When you go to pick up your shirt, your name will be attached.  If you have any questions,
please contact Tracie Blackburn.

Women, plan to attend the Women of Faith Conference in Greensboro on November 12-13.  For all the details, click here.

ONE DAY...please take a couple of minutes to read an excerpt from the Only Servants blog written by Chris and Lindy Thompson in Nairobi.  This will give only a small insight on why mission teams continue to want to visit Africa. CLICK HERE:

Church Family Prayer Requests

Continue to pray for our upcoming VBS that
children and their families will come to know
the Lord.

Remember in prayer our military men and women in Iraq.  The high temperature is
around 122 degrees and the low is only 95.

Jason Kilby, age 25, severed his carotid
artery in May due to a fall.  This caused him
to have a major stroke. He is at the Sticht
center in Winston undergoing rehab.  Doctors
told the family he could not survive following
his injury, but Jason, through God, is proving
them all wrong.

Misty Hoover's father, Ken Hicks was to be at
Duke Thursday morning to see a specialist
surgeon to determine if surgery was even
possible.  If so, the surgery will take place
either Thursday or Friday.

Ronny Church's hearing has reached almostthe same level of hearing as his other ear and
should be able to have even better results
in two weeks.

Rev. Chris Mills will soon have surgery for
prostate cancer and a course of treatment
will be determined after surgery.

Please keep in prayer little Lydia Nichols
who is seriously ill.

Dr. Lon Chenowith and his family will begin
their new life here at Baptist Home beginning in mid-August.

Priscilla Reynolds, a friend of Jennifer Royall
has Alzheimers.  She fell Saturday and broke her hip.  Because of a heartcondition, doctors are  monitoring her to determine when it will be
safe to perform surgery.  Priscilla is confused
and worried and doesn't understand
what is going on.

Nathan Greene, Melissa Hills nephew, will be
going deeper into Afghanistan and will be unable
to communicate for about a month. Nathan
wrote: "Keep all of us in your thoughts and
prayers.  Our weapons don't win battles. It's
the angels God sends to help that win battles."

Teresa Williams came through surgery well.
If everything goes as expected, she will probably
be released Thursday.  It is not known
if she will go home or to rehab.

Kristy Woods is the 5 year old daughter of
Terry and Teresa Woods.  She has been
diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
and has just had her first chemo treatment.  She
did okay but her counts were down and
she had to have a transfusion.

Robby Handy will be having 2 surgeries to help
correct problems with his right leg/knee.  The
first is scheduled for July 29 and the second for August 5.

Information from
Pastor Dean Crane:

"We need pens and pencils!! In the month of July, we are asking for pens and pencils for El Salvador.  We just returned from El Salvador where we saw 682 saved, mostly in the schools.  We took 3000 pens and pencils in our suitcases.  That is all we need to get into the schools.  We were in Government schools and Private secular schools.  We will send these to El Salvador where the Baptist pastors have teams to go into the schools.  The church we were in had 566 people meeting in it the following Sunday.  Thank you for your support in all that you do to spread the Gospel even through a pen and pencil.  Thank you and God Bless you,

Worldwide Church Planters
Dean and Betty Crane"

Boxes have been placed in the usual distribution places around the church labeled Pens and Pencils for El Salvador.  If you are a prayer partner in another churchand would like to participate in this ministry, call or email Wanda Call to find out how Baptist Home can pick up your pens and pencils.
